The Hester J. Hodgdon Libraries for all Foundation applies the Seven Aspects of Global Sustainability in all its work.  Throughout our programs and community focus these aspects are crucial to Community Advancement.

Values Statement: Seven Aspects of Sustainability:

The HJH Foundation uses the Seven Aspects of Sustainability to create programs and to partner with other organizations that have the same goal. The HJH Foundation completed a study and developed these aspects to determine if a project would be successful. The Foundation believes that in order to have success, it is necessary that the project considers each of the seven aspects of sustainability. We make sure that all of our programs are directly connected to these aspects.

Global Sustainability:

Sustainable libraries worldwide, seek to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. International sustainable libraries seek creative solutions that promote: Economic vitality, strong leadership development, ecological environmental stability, community advancement, educational empowerment, social equity, and global awareness.

The booklet “Seven Aspects of Sustainability in Programing” was born from a lecture given by Jane Mirandette at the International Relations Round table presentation at the American Library Association’s Annual Convention in 2013. The table below shows how we have incorporated these aspects into the services the HJH Foundation provides.
