Club Rotario San Juan del Sur

Inaugurated in 2013, Club Rotario San Juan del Sur members normally meet most Tuesday nights at 5:00 p.m.at the Biblioteca. Rotary International has had a strong presence in the surrounding communities. International Rotary Club members from the USA, Italy, France, and Canada have joined us to provide Global Grants and projects in Water and Sanitation and Education and Health. Five successful Global Grants have provided water towers, sinks in classrooms and toilets in over 15 schools since 2015. Currently there are no Global Grants in progress but several small area projects such as bicycle safety and flood assistance are still being undertaken.

Service Above Self is Rotary’s byword internationally.  See www.rotary.org for more info.

Rotarians and anyone interested in service projects are always welcome at our meetings. Meetings are currently sporadic and include a monthly zoom meeting. Please inquire if you have an interest in attending a meeting.

The HJH Foundation and SJDS Biblioteca staff were among the founding members and continue to provide leadership for our Rotary club. The Four Way Test is a Rotary motto that we have applied to our vision.

The Four Way Test Applied:

Is it the Truth?

We deal in actual facts and experiences, pretty or not. Our data is accurate. All of our accounting is transparent.

Is it Fair to all Concerned?

Not much has been fair to over two thirds of the population of Nicaragua. We bring fairness to education and to quality of live with clean drinking water to Central Americas second poorest country.

Will it Build Good Will and Friendships?

Working side by side to better a community forges deep friendships that last a lifetime.

Will it be Beneficial to all Concerned?

The benefit of access to quality healthcare, books, and education, clean water and a better quality of life fosters democracy. Where hope exists people thrive. This benefits us all.

Interact Service Learning Opportunities

The HJH Foundation has been orchestrating Service Learning trips for Rotary Interact groups for several years with the partnership of the San Juan del Sur Rotary club. High-school aged teenagers and their supervisors travel to Nicaragua to participate in activities that improve the community. In the past, Interact groups have worked with us to complete water and sanitation projects, paint schools, volunteer with the mobile project, and provide education resources for the community. While these trips involve a lot of work, there is still time left to enjoy Nicaragua and participate in volunteer tourism adventures.
